FAQ’s

Q.)
How can I tell if my computer is in need of a service?

A.) If your machine does not respond to key strokes or mouse clicks immediately, if your internet browser loads slowly or loads to the wrong home-page, or if your computer runs slowly in general it is a good indicator that you may need it serviced. Many times issues with your machine can remain undetectable, and cause significant damage later on. So it is recommended to have your machine serviced at least one every 30 days. Especially for a business that relies on the internet for communication and business growth.

Q.) How can a virus be harmful to my computer?

A.) A virus(s) can be very harmful to your computer unlike other forms of files that can be freely downloaded to your computer, a virus can actually cause malicious damage, such as: it can write entries into the system registry that can damage boot-up processes, it can rename, move, or delete system critical files in the windows directory, or even cause hardware to become damaged. So, continued upkeep and maintenance is recommended for users that utilize the internet or removable media (CD’s, Floppy disks, Jump Drives, or External Hard drives) between machines. A machine should be spyware and virus scanned at least once a month to maintain performance of the machine and to ensure protection.

Q.) What exactly is Spyware? I hear about it all the time.

A.) Spyware is an umbrella name for several different types of files. There is Malware, Greyware, Phiser’s, Loggers, Trojans, etc.. each of these files are designed to target a specific bit of information from your machine. Unlike their predecessor the virus, spyware is non-malicious in that it is not designed to destroy information or your system integrity. Spyware is designed to collect data and target you for advertisements. Some spyware can track your surfing habits and even log your keystrokes from the keyboard. But none of the spyware is for damaging software or information. Now some machines can begin to act peculiar after a large amount of spyware has been downloaded and installed. The system performance can be inhibited when the large amount of spyware begins to allocate to much of your system resources (i.e. processor instructions, ram storage or virtual memory.) Again the only way to maintain performance is to keep a regular cleanup schedule of spyware scans and virus scans, to ensure proper pc function.
